ORANGE COUNTY - The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the victim of an auto-pedestrian accident.
Troopers say Larry Wayne Sasser, 58, of Beaumont, was killed in the May 6 accident on Interstate 10 near FM 1442 in Orange County.
The DPS says according to the initial report, an auto-pedestrian crash occurred at approximately 12:45 a.m. on May 6, 2012 on Interstate 10 near FM 1442 in Orange County. From evidence gathered at the scene, the pedestrian walked into the eastbound traffic lane of Interstate 10 and was initially struck by an 18-wheeler driven by Vincent Sagona of Houma, Louisiana and then struck by several other vehicles. After investigating the crash and taking a statement from Vincent Sagona, no charges were filed in this case.
The Texas Department of Public Safety provided evidence to the local Medical Examiner who then submitted the evidence to a certified Forensic and Investigative Genetics Laboratory.
DNA results showed that the deceased victim of this fatal crash was 58 year old, Jerry Wayne Sasser of Beaumont, Texas. The Texas Department of Public Safety has notified Sasser's family of his death.
