BEAUMONT - From Beaumont Police Department - Beaumont Police are investigating a homicide and an aggravated assault that occurred late Monday night.
At 9:58, Patrol Officers responded to the 1800 block of Glasshouse in Beaumont’s north end when several citizens reported hearing gunshots. One caller told 911 operators that a victim was inside a residence located at 1828 Glasshouse.
Officers arrived at that house and found a black male in his early 20’s with multiple gunshot wounds. Beaumont EMS transported the victim to St. Elizabeth ER where doctors pronounced him dead.
At 10:19 pm, an 18-year-old male arrived at St. Elizabeth ER via private auto with a superficial gunshot wound to his left hip. This male told ER staff that an unknown subject shot him in the 2800 block of Gulf Street. ER doctors treated then released this man.
Detectives transported him to the police station for a written statement. Detectives also took written statements from other people who were near the scene of the shooting.
Detectives are working to positively identify the homicide victim. They are also working to determine the motive for this shooting. Our Crime Scene Unit responded to collect and analyze forensic evidence at the extensive scene. Our Traffic Unit responded to map and diagram the scene.
Due to the proximity of the two shooting locations, Detectives are working to determine if these two shootings are related.
It is still very early in this investigation so information is very limited. As the investigation continues, we will give updates as details become clearer.
