GROVES - From Groves City Marshal Jeff Wilmore - On August 22, 2012, at approximately 7:55am, a Groves Police officer was involved in a minor traffic accident involving a State of Texas (Gist Unit) van at the intersection of Martin Luther King and Florida Street in Beaumont, Texas.
There were no injuries and damage to both vehicles was very minor. It was unknown at the time if the officer was suffering from a medical condition or was impaired in some way, lack of sleep or something else.
The witnesses who assisted at the scene reported the officer appeared to be suffering from a medical condition.
The officer was placed on paid administrative leave, pending an internal investigation. No charges have been filed.
