WEST ORANGE - By Megan Dillard - Law enforcement officers are looking for a gunman who robbed a credit union in West Orange.
Police say the man walked into the Firestone Credit Union on MacArthur Drive shortly after 9 this morning.
He was holding a shotgun in one hand and a duffle bag in the other.
He wore dark colored overalls, a maroon ski mask that covered his face and head, sunglasses and gloves.
There were three tellers and one customer in the building at the time.
No one was hurt although paramedics treated a customer who suffered a panic attack.
KFDM spoke with the manager of the business next door to the credit union.
The woman says although the robber didn't take money from her business, he stole her peace of mind.
From the moment he walked in the door, until it was all over, less than 60 seconds went by.
This surveillance video shows a man holding a shotgun walk in to the Firestone Credit Union in West Orange.
Witnesses say the man was calm, quick, deliberate.
His face covered with a maroon ski mask; his eyes hidden behind sunglasses.
"He probably knew the workings of the business, knew the safest route for him in and out."
In through a door on the west side of the building; out the same way.
Never getting too close to the busy street or the businesses nearby.
"He would've been hard to see had you not been paying attention."
Witnesses last saw him running behind this Domino's next door.
"I was very scared when I found out because I was by myself."
Brittney Hankins is the assistant manager.
She was getting ready for the day's business.
Hankins shared this surveillance video with police.
"We looked at it and we found out that we did catch an image of him running through the back parking lot."
She didn't know about the robbery until after it happened.
Still, she feels vulnerable.
"I'll probably be a lot more aware of what's going on, and I'm definitely going to spread it throughout the company to be more aware."
A lesson learned from a criminal that seemed to come out of nowhere.
Police hope he learns something too.
"I'd like him to think about how many people's lives he's impacted this morning just by doing this for his own selfish reasons. And of course I'd like for him to come into my office so he and I can have a talk about it."
A discussion police welcome with a man whose crime took only seconds but will have a lasting impact on this small community.
Here's one more look at the robber.
Again, police say he was wearing dark coveralls, a ski mask, sunglasses, and gloves.
He was last seen running behind businesses on MacArthur Drive.
