BEAUMONT - By Justin Hinton, KFDM 6 News
The Beaumont Fire Department spent the day at the Historical Central Fire Station for the 5th Annual Fire Prevention and Family Safety Festival.
Fire Chief Anne Huff helped families navigate through the festival.
“We want people to go home with more of a knowledge of what they can do to protect themselves and what the fire department is prepared to do to protect them should they need us,” she said.
The festival also served as an opportunity for the community to interact with multiple emergency response teams. Representatives explained the importance of fire and life safety as attendees traveled through the different booths.
Outside the tent, firefighters rappelled down ropes to demonstrate a small sample of what they could do on any given day.
Firefighter, Alex Murphy, had a few fans of his own at the event. His family came to support him and hear fire safety tips.
"This is all for fire prevention and fire safety, so anything to get your family out here to learn about all that kind of stuff, it's a good thing," he said.
