VIDOR - The Vidor Lions Club will be dedicating the Veteran's Park "Fields of Freedom" this Sunday, November 11, 2012 at 1:00 p.m.
The Vidor Lions Club is proud to have two special art features in the park. One is a bronze sculpture "Gratitude" (by artist Scott Stearman) of a modern day soldier kneeling before a WWII battlefield cross which will be the centerpiece of the park. The other is a granite monument displaying the painting for which the park is named "Fields of Freedom" (by artist Ray Simon).
Both out-of-state artist will be at the dedication and will speak briefly about their artwork in the park. The keynote speaker will be retired United States Air Force Major General H. Hale Burr, Jr. who was originally from Vidor and now resides in Plano, TX.
The Orange Community Bank will be present to honor the veterans by playing each branch anthem while new branch flags are raised. The Vidor Lions Veterans' Park has been in the work for almost four years. The park is still in the process of completion.
