LUMBERTON-By: Leslie Rangel
In Washington, lawmakers have come to a resolution about the fiscal cliff, only lasting a few weeks. Here in Southeast Texas, what does the 2013 economic forecast look like?
A group of community leaders will meet tomorow morning to discuss the situation.
KFDM reporter Leslie Rangel is live in Lumberton she spoke to small business owner, Nathan Cross who is looking forward to growth in 2013.
Magical Yogurt opened up in November, after Cross saw teh need for a yogurt shop in Lumberton.
"There's an awful lot of building going on here, all you hvae to do is drive up and down the highway ans see." Cross tells KFDM.
Despite arguments in Wahsington, he has seen his shop grow.
We've already been able to determine with 2 months operations that it's cash flowing," Cross says.
He says he is worried about tax increases with the Fiscal Cliff, but he's still optimistic.
Local leaders from Hardin, Jefferson and Orange counties will meet for the 2013 Southeast Texas Economic Forecast Breakfast at the Holiday Inn in Beaumont.
Dr. Ted C. Jones, Cheif Economist with Stewart Title will be the keynote speaker for the event. For more information visit www.bmtcoc.org
