ORANGE COUNTY - by Lindsey Kovacevich - State troopers are having trouble identifying a man who was struck and killed by an 18 wheeler on Interstate 10.
The man was walking in the eastbound lanes when a truck and several other vehicles ran into him at about 12:45 a.m. Sunday near FM 1442 east of Vidor.
State troopers say they're having trouble finding a way to see if the man's fingerprints match any in a data base because his injuries were severe.
All troopers know for sure is the victim is a white man in his thirties. He had no identification on him.
Investigators aren't sure why the man was walking in the middle of the highway just before 1 a.m. Sunday.
You can still see the orange markings on the interstate from where troopers found the body.
hey're doing toxicology testing to see if there were drugs or alcohol in his system.
The DPS needs information from the public to identify the man.
Troopers say the man was wearing denim blue jeans with a 42 inch waist and 32 inch length.
He had on a black belt, a red and gray t-shirt and extra large red boxers.
He was wearing blue and white Nike tennis shoes.
"This is someone's son, father, brother," said DPS Corp. Brian Cooper. "Need to get closer and let someone know where someone is at so we can help get him identified and let that family know what we have as far as him being deceased."
Corp. Cooper says investigators may have to do DNA testing in order to make an identification.
If you have any information about the man's death call the DPS in Orange at (409) 883-0274.
