Arrests made in Jefferson Co. home invasion case

KFDM News - We have learned new information about a home invasion robbery that left a 79-year old woman injured.

Two men were arrested on charges of aggravated robbery.  Deputies arrested 25-year-old Marcom Stagg and 26-year-old Thomas Stagg. Investigators say they are brothers and live in Beaumont.

If convicted of the first degree felony, they could face up to life behind bars.

Betty Coats received bruises and other injuries in the attack on May 16. She owns a liquor store in Nome.

Investigators say three attackers broke into her home shortly before midnight, taking thousands of dollars and a television set.

Deputies have not charged anyone else in the home invasion robbery, but KFDM News has  obtained a probable cause affidavit in which investigators say 34-year-old Byron Bush is a suspect in the crime.

On Thursday, June 12, a grand jury indicted Bush on two counts of attempted capital murder.

Deputies say he shot at them May 22, and they returned fire. It happened at an apartment complex on East Lucas.

Authorities were investigating the home invasion case and tried to speak with another suspect at the apartment complex when they say Bush opened fire.

Deputies struck him several times. Bush was hospitalized and is now in jail.Arrests made in Jefferson Co. home invasion case
