Restaurant Report: June 13, 2014

KFDM News - Mold in fountain drink dispensers, personal items found on table for preparing food and no soap for employee hand-washing are just a couple of the problems inspectors find at Jefferson County eateries.

We've got the highs and lows in this edition of the Restaurant Report Card.

We begin with Donut Hole on Nederland avenue. Inspector Conlin noticed the eggs were not under refrigeration, which could lead food borne illnesses. There was no log book for the kolaches. Personal items were found on the prep table which is a violation of good hygenic practices. No soap was found at the hand wash facilities. And the food contact surfaces and equipment needed to be cleaned and sanitized.  Donut Hole in Nederland gets a 77.

Now onto the Pompano Club in Port Neches. Personal drinks were found in the prep cooler, and jackets were found on the food shelves. Both are violations of good hygenic practices.  The prep cooler was broken and in need of repair, and the light shield in the walk in freezer needed  to be replaced. The floors also needed to be repaired and resealed. Pompano Club in Port Neches gets an 82.

And finally, inspector Conlin visited the Subway in nederland. She found employee food mixed with retail food in the cooler, which is a violation of good hygenic practices.  And one employee had a beard which needed to be covered. The food contact surfaces need to be cleaned and sanitized.  Mold was found in the ice machine and the fountain drink dispensers. Subway in Nederland gets a 90.
