Update: Orange Police release name of woman killed in traffic accident

UPDATE: Police have identified the victim as Elizabeth Smith, 32, of Orange.  



Officers with the City of Orange Police Department were dispatched about 7pm Thursday to the intersection of 10th Street and Green Avenue in reference to a major traffic accident.  Upon arrival, Officers located a 1999, gray in color, Nissan 4 door passenger car with major damage to the driver's side front and rear doors.  The vehicle was occupied by 4 occupants.  The other vehicle was 2000, green in color, Ford Explorer with major damage to the front end of the vehicle.  The driver of the Nissan was extracted from the vehicle using the jaws of life.  The driver was transported Baptist Hospital Orange where she was pronounced deceased.  The front passenger was transported to Baptist Hospital Orange with minor injuries.  The driver's side rear passenger was a 2 year old that was transported to Texas Children's Hospital.  The toddler's condition is unknown.  The rear passenger side occupant was uninjured.  The driver of the Ford Explorer was uninjured.  It was determined in the investigation that the Ford Explorer disregarded the red light, resulting in the accident.  Judge Dunn, Justice of the Peace 3, was contacted.  The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
