Former NFL players from Southeast Texas impacted by concussions closer to settlement

A number of former NFL players from Southeast Texas who suffered concussions are one step closer to a settlement.

A federal judge today granted preliminary approval to a landmark deal that would compensate thousands of former NFL players.

The ruling came about two weeks after the league agreed to remove a $675 million dollar cap on damages. More than 4,500 players filed suit.

The settlement is designed to last at least 65 years and cover players who suffer neurological problems now and those who develop problems in the future.
