BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar University athletic officials unveiled a construction web cam and blog on their web site, LamarCardinals.com Thursday.
The web cam will allow visitors to view the progress of some of the major construction projects currently underway throughout the department, with the primary scope of the camera on the Athletic Complex, Provost Umphrey Stadium and W.S. "Bud" Leonard Field.
The NetCam XL camera provided by StarDot Technologies operates at 30 frames per second and is the first one instituted by the athletics department. It also has three different frame sizes, along with two applet clients - Java and ActiveX.
The entire project was a collaborative effort with athletics, facilities and networking. The all-weather camera is currently mounted atop the Dan F. and Sandy S. Smith Press Box. The stationary camera will be rotated periodically to show various parts of the construction.
The department will continue to provide weekly photo gallerys for the football and soccer facilities through the completion of those projects.
The web site will also feature a construction blog that will provide added content about the various jobs. Links to photos, videos and media articles will be provided, while also adding new content on a regular basis.
