ABA Mustangs Ranked #2 in the Nation

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

The Southeast Texas Mustangs (6-1) are ranked #2 in  the Nation in the latest
ABA Power Ranking.  The Poll was released on Tuesday  afternoon and the
Mustangs only trail the Nashville Broncs (8-1) in the  National Power ranking for
the American Basketball  Association.

"This is a great honor and we feel fortunate to be  ranked so high in this
prestigious poll!  We must  keep it all in perspective though and understand
that the only poll that  really matters is the one that comes out the last week
of March after the  ABA Finals when the ABA Champion will be ranked #1!"
states Mustangs  General Manager/Head Coach Steve  Tucker.

December 23, 2008 - _American Basketball Association  (ABA)_

Indianapolis, IN. The ABA Nashville Broncs have  held the #1 position in the
ABA Power Rankings despite a loss to the  strong Kentucky Bisons this past
week.

According to Pierre Hall, Chairman of the ABA Power  Rankings Committee, "For
the first time, the Broncs have been closely  challenged by both the
Southeast Texas Mustangs and the Texas Fuel  (formerly the South Texas Showboats) for
the number one position. There  was only a small margin of difference based on
our ratings formula - and  the Maywood Buzz and Cleveland Rockers were very
close behind them. We  have some very strong teams and there was a lot of
movement this week."

The rankings:

1. Nashville Broncs
2. Southeast Texas Mustangs
3. Texas  Fuel
4. Maywood Buzz
5. Cleveland  Rockers
6. Kentucky Bisons
7. Los  Angeles Push
8. Las Vegas Aces
9.  Kansas City Spartans
10. Knoxville Thunderbolts
11. Jersey Express
12. Salt Lake City  Saints
13. Chicago Steam
14.  Mississippi Blues
15. Houston Takers
16. Beijing Aoshen Olympian
17.  Washington Raptors
18. San Francisco Rumble
19. Modesto Bearcats
20. West Texas  Whirlwinds
21. Aurora Force
22.  Georgia Gwizzlies
23. Detroit Hoops
24. Phoenix Fury

"And after this weekend," added Hall, "we expect to see  some new teams in
the top 24 and some movement upward on others. For more  information, email

The Mustangs will take the court again on December  28th at Texas City and
