Future Lady Cardinal Ang Green Shines in State All Star Games
Comments 0 | Recommend 0BEAUMONT - Future Lamar University guard Ang Green has kept busy this summer, taking part in a par of All Star games around the state of Texas before she dons the red and white for the Lady Cardinals.
In her first All Star game of the summer, Green scored 14 points at the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All Star game in early May. She saved her best performance of the summer for the Texas Girls Coaches Association All Star game in Grand Prairie, Texas on July 10 as she poured in a game-high 24 points to lead the South team.
"Ang is a phenomenal player and a great kid," Silsbee head coach Bob Killam said. "She is one of the two best players I've had the privilege to coach during my career and she is going to be a great player for Lamar. She's going to be a guard in college, but she played every position for us and she's not afraid to mix it up.
During her four-year career at Silsbee where she averaged 26.7 points, 11.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.7 steals per game as a senior. She earned class 3A TABC, class 3A TGCA and Texas Basketball Magazine All-State honors while also earning district 21-3A most valuable player honors.
She scored 2,395 points during her high school career while leading the Tigers to three district championships and a total of 102 wins. She was equally as impressive in the classroom, being named TGCA Academic All State and been on the honor roll all four years.
"We're very pleased with the successful performances that Ang had During the all star games," Lamar head coach Larry Tidwell said. "We knew we had recruited and signed a top notch player and it was great to see her prove it on an even greater scale. We can't wait to get her in a Lady Cardinals uniform."
