Port Arthur leaders vow crackdown on violence

PORT ARTHUR - Port Arthur city leaders, including the police chief, mayor and councilmembers, are vowing to do whatever it takes to stop the violence that has plagued the city in recent weeks.

The leaders met at an apartment complex Tuesday morning to describe their plan. It includes extra patrols and the toughest possible charges against suspects who engage in violence.

One person was murdered and several people were shot and injured in recent weeks. The violence broke out at a lounge and an apartment complex, Prince Hall Village.

Police have arrested two suspects.
