More of what we experienced on Sunday is making a repeat performance today. Plenty of sunshine mixed in with a few high level clouds. Dry weather will stick around for most of the week with another upper level system returning for the later half of next weekend.

Fatal wrong-way crash near downtown Houston

HOUSTON - by KHOU 11 News and

A woman died early Thursday morning in a wrong-way crash that shut down the Eastex Freeway southbound near downtown, police said.

Houston TranStar reported the accident occurred shortly after 5:30 a.m. south of I-10 East.

Three vehicles were involved in the wreck, according to the Houston Police Department.

HPD said the woman that was killed was driving her truck in the wrong direction on the freeway, and she hit a car head-on. The person in the car was sent to the hospital in critical condition.

A third driver came across the scene and struck the wrecked vehicles. He or she suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Three lanes were immediately shut down, and the remaining lane was shut down an hour later. The free reopened shortly before 8:30 a.m.

All southbound traffic was diverted to I-10 East, causing inbound delays on that freeway.
