Champion bull rider visits Kountze school

A  champion bull rider and hometown hero surprised students at Kountze Intermediate School on Monday, according to principal Mike J. Sims.

2012 PRCA World Champion Bull Rider Cody Teel visited students during a STAAR test morning assembly pep rally at Kountze Intermediate School, according to Sims.

Teel spoke with the kids about having a goal and never giving up.

When he won the 2012 World Championship at the National Finals Rodeo, the then 19-year-old Teel competed against 50 other bull riders in Las Vegas.

Teel injured his elbow at the Houston Rodeo in March.
