People riding a jet ski spotted the body at about 6 p.m. on the bank of the Neches River near the Purple Heart Memorial Bridge behind a steel company. The Orange County Sheriff's Office is investigating. Port Authority Police were also on the scene. Jefferson County deputies used their boat to help secure the area.
Judge Dunn told KFDM News the body appears to be that of a man but it'll take an autopsy to make a final determination because the body had been in the water for several weeks.
Dunn said it was impossible to tell the ethnicity.
He said there was a white plastic bracelet on the person's wrist with black letters that spelled out "I'm sexy and I know it."
The judge has ordered an autopsy. For now, he's listing the cause and manner of death as undetermined.
