Vidor police respond to fatal early morning accident
Vidor Police Department A 32-year-old man from Village Mills died following an accident in the 500 block of Orange Street at about 1:28 a.m. Friday, according to a news release from Vidor police.
The initial investigation indicated that a Winnie man was driving west in a Jeep Wrangler when his vehicle left the road, going over the sidewalk, and subsequently colliding with a man riding a bicycle and a utility pole, the release stated.
Randy Holland, the 32-year-old man riding the bicycle, was pronounced dead at the scene and an autopsy will be conducted, the release stated.
The Winnie man, James Lunsford, suffered minor injuries in the collision and was later treated and released from Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, the release stated.
A blood sample was taken from Lunsford and will be sent for analysis to the Texas Department of Public Safety laboratory.
The incident is currently under investigation.
