Shark bites teen swimming with church group in Gulf

SURFSIDE, Texas – A teenager was attacked by a shark near Surfside Beach Monday afternoon.

The boy was with a church group and was swimming in waist-deep water when he felt something bite his leg, Surfside police said.

The teen reached into the water and the shark bit his hand.

A Life Flight helicopter rushed the victim to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center. His condition isn’t known.
