Vandal trashes school

JASPER - by Steve W Stewart/KJAS & Rayburn Broadcasting Company

Jasper Police are investigating a break-in and subsequent damage at one of the oldest school buildings in the district. Police say someone broke into, and then trashed several classrooms and a hallway at J.H. Rowe Intermediate School, located on East Gibson Street.

A report filed by Officer John Hardin on Monday said that a school employee arrived early that morning and discovered the crime.

The report said that entry was made by breaking through a window in the 5th grade building, and once inside, the suspect(s) tore up several classrooms, and also broke numerous florescent lights.

So far police have no leads on a suspect, and the case has been turned over to detectives.
