Woman, grandchild found murdered in Walker County home

WALKER COUNTY - by KHOU 11 News and

A woman and her 2-year-old grandson were found viciously murdered in their Walker County home on Wednesday evening, and now the search is on for the suspects, according to authorities.

The incident took place at a home along Highway 30 near M. Williams Road west of Hunstville.

The sheriffs office said deputies were led to the home by a frantic 911 call made by the womans husband. When they arrived, the woman and her grandson were already dead.

Texas Rangers were called to the scene to assist in the investigation. There was no early word as to what the murder weapon was.

Neighbors told KHOU 11 News the family was well-known at a nearby Baptist church. Church members were getting ready for service on Wednesday night when they received the bad news.

One call came behind another call, and because Ive been friends so long with the family, the right thing to do was to come be with the family, said family friend Debora Byrd.

The Texas Department of Public Safety held a news conference Wednesday night, but troopers revealed very little about their search for the killer.

Its very difficult hard to do but thats what theyre paid to do, and theyre going to do their job, said DPS Trooper Erik Burse.

It wasnt immediately known if anyone else was home when the grandmother and her grandson were killed.

Authorities said the female victim was about 60 years old.
