Silsbee police investigate shooting in city park


On August 4, 2013 at approximately 6:00 p.m., the Silsbee Police Department responded to the Waldo Matthews Park, located on Avenue G to investigate a report of gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, officers located 19-year-old male victim, identified as Anquin Williams, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to Baptist Hospital in Beaumont for treatment and is expected to recover.

The suspect has been identified as 29-year-old Nathaniel Kent Walker of Silsbee. He is a black male, 5 feet 10 inches in height and weighing approximately 165 pounds. Two warrants have been issued for his arrest in connection with this case. He is wanted on one count of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and one count of being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Walker is considered armed and dangerous and the public should not attempt to apprehend him. Anyone with information on Walkers whereabouts should contact local law enforcement or the Silsbee Police Department at 385-3714.
