Officers pull man from car as it erupts in flames; death under investigation

ORANGE COUNTY - Police in Orange are investigating what they call the suspicious death of a man pulled from his car by officers as the vehicle erupted in flames.

Police aren't releasing the man's name until they notify relatives.

Someone called 911 at about 11:45 p.m. Monday to report a suspicious vehicle or what they thought might have been a driver involved in an accident in the 700 block of Adams Street.

The front of the car was off the road and smoke filled the inside of the car.

Officers pulled a man from the vehicle just as it became engulfed in flames. Doctors at Baptist Orange Hospital pronounced him dead.

Detectives with the Orange Police Department are investigating the man's death and waiting for autopsy results. They're calling his death suspicious.
