Police: Boyfriend suffocated baby and threw it into the trash:

ILLINOIS - An Illinois man is accused of suffocating his girlfriend baby boy and throwing the child in the trash.

Investigators say the child named Joshua was crying... And the woman's boyfriend placed his hand over his mouth until he stopped breathing.

Police say Demetries Thorpe then put the child in the dumpster.

That was on trash day. Police say he watched the baby being hauled off.

Then he told his girlfriend someone must have taken the child.

Now workers are searching for the child's body in a massive landfill.

An investigator called the search  "worse than looking for a needle in a haystack."
