Southeast Texas officials discuss plan by U.S. Attorney General to scale back sentences for some drug dealers

The highest prosecutor in the land is calling for steep changes and that has people on both sides of the issue speaking out.

U.S. attorney general Eric Holder wants to scale back sentences for some drug dealers.
 
KFDM's Megan Dillard spoke with an area judge and a narcotics investigator about Holder's plan.

Mandatory minimum sentences went into effect in the 1980s.

Holder's plan proposes reduced sentences for elderly inmates who commit non-violent crimes and have served a significant part of their sentences.
