People with warrants in Jefferson County being rounded up

KFDM News - The grace period is over, and the warrant round-up has started.

Last month, Jefferson County Justice of the Peace Brad Burnett and Constable Jeff Greenway offered people with outstanding warrants a deal: pay up or possibly go to jail.

The warrant round-up started earlier this week and ends Friday. Twenty-five hundred warrants were issued.

Several hundred people cleared them before the round-up, but two crews of deputy constables swept the area -- checking homes, businesses, and other places -- for people who have not taken care of their fines.

Judge Burnett says anyone arrested Thursday night has to pay the fines or go to jail.
