Update: Gas leak under control, evacuation lifted

(10:30 a.m. update) BEAUMONT - CenterPoint Energy workers have brought a natural gas leak under control and the Beaumont Fire Department has lifted an evacuation that began at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday when contractors working on the Concord Road project hit the line.

BEAUMONT - Contractors working on the Concord Road project in Beaumont have struck a natural gas line, prompting firefighters to evacuate one nearby home and three businesses on the north side of the Target shopping center, according to information Capt. Earl White provided to KFDM News.

White says the workers struck the line at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning in the 6000 block of Concord.

No one was hurt.

CenterPoint Energy workers are trying to stop the leak while Beaumont Police direct traffic in the area.
