Exclusive interview with 12 year old who called 911, hid in closet from intruders
PORT ARTHUR - Port Arthur police are crediting the child and the emergency operator with remaining calm and helping officers make an arrest.
Police took two men into custody last Tuesday.
Today, the child spoke with KFDMs Ashley Gaston and showed Ashley what he did to remain safe.

12 year old Deion Murdock was watching tv in his bedroom last Tuesday afternoon when he heard glass shatter.
911 what is your emergency. Someone's trying to break into my house. Are you home alone?
They just broke the window, they just broke the window. Please hurry mam.
Can you lock yourself in the room? according to the 911 call.
I closed the door, I locked it, opened it, and I had to squeeze back there in this corner, said Deion Murdock.
Deion moved shoe boxes, a suitcase and clothes to squeeze behind the clothes rack and hide in his mothers closet.
When I heard them come in, it made me panic, but when the lady started talking it made me calm down a little bit, said Murdock/

You have to put yourself in a mother's position so he can feel comfortable, said LaTonya James.
Latonya James was on the other end of the 911 call. The Port Arthur dispatcher says she could hear the fear in Deions voice.
I was shaking a lot and it's kinda like um a sugar rush...but with panic, said Murdock.
Deion heard the men kick in the bedroom door.
Stay on the phone with me Deion, your mom's gonna be so proud of you. The dispatcher remained on the phone with Deion until officers arrived, according to the 911 call.
Very courageous young man, said James.
Police chased the burglary suspects and arrested them.
Deion has a piece of advice for other kids home alone confronted with the same kind of danger.
Stay calm and try to stay hidden and be as quiet as possible...and call the police, said Murdock.
Port Arthur police arrested 30 year old LaJohn Wilson and 22 year old Jarrod Johnson. Both men live in Port Arthur. They're charged with burglary of a home.
Police and k-9's chased the men along a canal bank and into a wooded area about a quarter mile from the family's home on Minnie Street. They found one suspect hiding under a home and the second suspect inside a home.
