KFDM News has new developments concerning a Jasper County murder case.

Sheriff Mitchel Newman says investigators have now determined the identity of the victim although they are not releasing his name until they can notify relatives.

One suspect in the shooting death has surrendered. 22 year old Jeffery Shane Reed of Jasper walked into the sheriff's office at about 10 p.m. last night.  He's in jail.

Investigators are looking for a second suspect, 33 year old Gary Smith of Silsbee.

The Sheriff's Office is accusing Smith and Reed in shooting death Thursday morning.

According to Sheriff Newman the victim was a passenger in a Toyota SUV when he was shot by someone outside the vehicle on Hi-Truitt road north of Jasper.

The driver of the SUV and another passenger say the attackers drove away.
