Overcoming obstacles at the ARC

BEAUMONT - Local residents who provide help to people with disabilities focused today on learning how to help them overcome obstacles.

Parents, professionals and educators gathered at the Edison plaza in Beaumont for a conference that provided inspiration and information to help people with disabilities improve their quality of life

The Arc of Greater Beaumont and the region five education service center joined together to present the event.

The conference addressed numerous topics including understanding autism.

The keynote speaker at the event was Doctor Stephen Shore, a professor at Adelphi University in Long Island, New York.

Doctor Shore is the author of several books, including understanding autism for dummies and he suffers from Asperger syndrome.
