Police in Orange arrest teen in shooting death of 19-year-old found in burning car
ORANGE - by Scott Lawrence
A judge has set bond at $500,000 for a teenager police in Orange arrested late Tuesday night in connection with the shooting death of a 19-year-old found in a burning car.
Investigators say Rashawn Dewayne Morris, 17, of Orange, is accused of murder in the death of Dominique Marquis Janise, 19, of Orange.
Someone called 911 at about 11:50 p.m. Monday to report a car fire at the end of Adams Street in the 700 block. Officers found a man in the burning 2008 Chevrolet Impala. He wasn't responsive. Police removed the man from the car and firefighters put out the flames. Doctors at Baptist Orange Hospital pronounced the man dead.
An autopsy Tuesday determined the man died of a gunshot wound and detectives identified him as Janise.
Justice of the Peace David Peck signed a murder arrest warrant for Morris and police took him into custody at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. He's in the Orange County Jail. Judge Peck set bond at $500,000.
