Street in Groves named in fallen officer's honor
A Beaumont police officer who died in the line of duty now has a permanent marker in the the community where her grew up.
Bryan Hebert died on July 8th two years ago.
A man deliberately ran into Hebert's Beaumont police patrol car on Dowlen Road in Beaumont at the end of a chase.
Hebert had put down spikes to stop the driver.
Bryan Hebert grew up in Groves and Tuesday morning members of his family along with Beaumont police chief Jimmy Singletary and other officers cut the ribbon on a street named in Hebert's honor.
Bryan Hebert Jane intersects with Joplin Street in Groves.
Police and the officer's family say the street is a tribute to his sacrifice and his service.
Bryan Hebert served for about a decade in the Beaumont police department.
