Rose Hill Acres Marshal released from jail after arrest in prostitution sting
BEAUMONT - The City Marshal of a small town south of Lumberton has posted bond and is out of jail after Beaumont Police arrested him in a prostitution sting operation at the Holiday Inn on Walden Road.
Erik Tolpo, 46, is the Marshal of Rose Hill Acres. Officers at the Jefferson County Jail tell KFDM News he was booked into the correctional facility at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday. He was released at about midnight after posting $250 bond.
The charge is a Class B Misdemeanor. If convicted, he could face punishment of up to 6 months in jail and up to a $2,000 fine.
Tolpo's job as Marshal is a part-time position. He is a civilian employee of the Texas Department of Public Safety.
KFDM News has left a message with Tolpo for comment. We're also seeking comment from the DPS and the City of Rose Hill Acres.
Police arrested seven people in the sting, including a woman. Officers put a fake ad on a website they say has become increasingly popular among prostitutes and people looking for their services.
