Vigil held for Port Arthur baby now in full body cast after abuse injuries
PORT ARTHUR - Caseworkers say the one-month-old girl found at a Port Arthur home had 19 fractures.
Faith Mason is in critical condition at Texas Children's Hospital. She's on a ventilator.
She's in a full body cast.
Investigators say they will file charges, but they're not releasing any details about who will be charged and when it will happen.
Detectives met with the District Attorney's Office and Child Protective Services to talk about which charges to file.
The child has a broken neck. Both of her arms and legs are broken. Her thigh bone and several ribs are also broken. She also has a dislocated shoulder.
Doctors say the baby is suffering from bleeding to the brain. Port Arthur investigators say they have been working around the clock to figure out what happened and how long the child has been abused.
They say this isn't the first time. Detectives arrived at Christus Hospital St. Mary at about midnight Saturday and saw the baby covered with bruises.
Her great aunt says she and the child's mother rushed the baby to the hospital.
The great aunt said the baby was at her apartment in Lakeview Palms in the 5200 block of Gulfway when she noticed the baby wasn't acting like herself.
