A little better coverage of showers can be expected Wednesday as deeper moisture should move northward off the Gulf.  The next cold front will be in our area Friday morning with scattered showers and thunderstorms rather likely Thursday evening into Friday.  Cooler and drier air will take over this weekend.

Beaumont fire leaves family without a home

BEAUMONT - A fire heavily damaged a home Friday morning, leaving a Beaumont family without a place to live.

The fire was reported short after 7 a.m. at a home in the 3700 block of Detroit Street in North Beaumont.

Capt. Brad Penisson with the Beaumont Fire Department said a couple renting the home told their son to work and and saw the fire when they returned home.
Capt. Penisson says a problem with a power cord to a window air conditioning unit appears to have caused the fire.

The Red Cross is helping the family find a place to stay.

No one was injured.
