Just a few showers and thunderstorms will be possible over the next few days due mainly to daytime heating.  A much better coverage of rain can be expected Thursday into Friday as a cold front moves in from the northwest.  This front will bring us cooler and drier air over the weekend.

Rain leads to accidents in Southeast Texas

The rain led to a crash that shut down a busy highway in Port Arthur for much of the day.

Police say the driver of an 18 wheeler lost control at about noon in the 2900 block of Highway 73 east near the entrance ramp to Highway 69.

The flat bed was carrying a large container. It rolled over and several cars were caught up in the crash .

Two people were  hurt and taken by ambulance to a hospital.  KFDM News is checking on their conditions.

And in Beaumont  investigators say the rain caused a driver to lose control of his SUV on the Eastex Freeway near Lawrence Drive.

The SUV hydronplaned at about 8 a.m. slid off the highway and overturned in the median between the service road and the freeway.

The driver wasn't hurt.

His wife wrote on our KFDM News Facebook page that her husband's vehicle hydroplaned when he veered to the right to avoid another driver who had slammed on his brakes in the rain.
