BEAUMONT - Friends and family of 24-year-old J. Derek Tremont gathered at a vigil to remember him and to mourn the loss of the West Brook High graduate.

They also prayed for other who were injured in a crash that claimed Tremont's life during the Labor Day weekend.

The vigil was held on Crockett Street Monday night. Dozens gathered to offer their support for the Tremont's family as well as for the victims recovering in the hospital. Those victims range in age, from 19 to 25 years old.

The vigil's organizers say they just wanted a place to offer support for everyone who knew Tremont.

Meanwhile, investigators are still trying to determine more about the crash that killed Tremont.

They say the crash involved two pickup trucks. Investigators say one of the drivers crossed the center line.
