Man transported following fall into ship's cargo hold

An 18-year-old man fell into the cargo hold of a ship around 8:30 a.m. Thursday, and units from the Port Arthur Fire Department responded, according to the PAFD.

The ship was docked at the Oxbow Docks on Coke Dock Road and once on scene crews determined that the man had fallen 25 to 30 feet into the ship while securing boom for an on board crane, according to PAFD.

The PAFD Rescue Team and members of the Huntsman Rescue Team located the man and found that he was alert.

He was lowered by the rescue team on to the dock and was then transported to St. Elizabeth's Emergency Department by Air Rescue. The patient appeared to have non-life threatening injuries, according to PAFD.
