Average gas price drops 8 cents in Beaumont

BEAUMONT - The average price for one gallon of unleaded gasoline dropped eight cents in Beaumont during the past week, according to the weekly price survey released Thursday by AAA Texas.

The Beaumont average is $3.18. At this time last year it was $3.54.

(Irving, TX) The statewide average for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel is now $3.20, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.  That price is eight cents less than last week and 39 cents less than one year ago.  The average in the Lone Star State is also 23 cents less than the national average of $3.43.  Of the major metropolitan areas surveyed in Texas, drivers in Amarillo and Austin are paying the most at $3.24, and drivers in Ft. Worth are paying the least at $3.15.

Drivers in every state and the District of Columbia are paying less for gasoline than one year ago, however the size of the year-over-year discount varies considerably.  Barring a hurricane or other unexpected disruption to gasoline production and distribution, analysts say retail prices may continue to move lower in the coming months, as sufficient supplies, flat demand and cheaper winter-blend gasoline mean motorists are likely to pay less to fill their tanks.

While we are enjoying a break at the gas pumps heading into fall, we encourage drivers to continue to keep fuel efficiency on their minds to save even more money on their fuel budgets, said AAA Texas/New Mexico Representative Doug Shupe.  Here in Texas, were paying about $45 to full up the typical 14-gallon size fuel tank.

To help consumers identify quality auto repair shops that can assist in the maintenance and repair of their vehicles, AAA offers the Approved Auto Repair program as a free public service. AAA-approved repair facilities meet and maintain high professional standards for training, equipment, cleanliness and customer service. Motorists can look for the Approved Auto Repair sign at local auto repair facilities, or search for a nearby AAA-approved shop online at AAA.com/Repair.  AAA Texas can be visited on the Internet at www.AAA.com.
