Neil and Jordan will be allowed to interview with law firm BISD hired to investigate altercation

KFDM News has learned an attorney for a Beaumont school board member who was involved in an altercation with an administrator will allow his client to interview with a law firm hired to investigate.

The Beaumont ISD is investigating what happened following an August 1 board meeting.

Jessie Haynes, a special assistant to the superintentendent, is on paid leave from the staff of BISD superintendent Doctor Timothy Chargois.

She blocked a door following a school board meeting last month to prevent journalist Jerry Jordan from going inside a room where BISD attorney Melody Chappell was conducting interviews.

Board member Mike Neil tried to find out why Jordan wasn't allowed in. Haynes blocked the door and there was contact between Neil and Haynes.

An attorney for Neil and Jordan, David Vann deCordova, Jr., told KFDM News he'll allow his clients to interview later this month with a law firm BISD hired to investigate. BISD police are also investigating.

No charges have been filed but the BISD Police Chief has told KFDM News he plans to turn over the information to Beaumont Municipal Court and the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office for review.
