A dry weather pattern will continue for the next few days with below normal temperatures.  In fact, scattered frost can be expected Sunday morning over the Lakes Area.  A warming trend will begin early next week with a good coverage of showers and thunderstorms by the middle and later part of next week.

Hardin County couple loses home in fire

A Hardin County couple lost their home to a fire a little before 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

Gerald Walden Sr. was sitting in his recliner in the 2700 block of Fish Lake Road in Kountze.

He saw black smoke and told his wife they needed to evacuate.

Walden tried putting out the fire while waiting for the fire department but he flames became too big too fast.

The Waldens lost their home but they still have each other. Silsbee and Lumberton fire departments were called in to assist in the fire, as well as the Texas Forest Service.

Red Cross is assisting the couple.
