Dupont gives all clear following leak at Beaumont plant

BEAUMONT - by Scott Lawrence

Dupont has sounded the all clear following a leak at its Beaumont plant.

Dupont spokesman Aaron Woods tells KFDM News the leak is fully contained and there were no injuries.

The leak involved liquid materials including sulfuric acid, benzene compounds and traces of benzene. The substances are used in the chemical industry.

Aaron Woods of Dupont tells KFDM News the chemical leak Tuesday morning prompted a shelter in place as a safety precaution at the Dupont unit area in Beaumont. The company kept out other workers as a precaution.

The leak was reported at about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.

KFDM News has a crew at the scene. Stay with KFDM and for updates.
