More of what we experienced on Sunday is making a repeat performance today. Plenty of sunshine mixed in with a few high level clouds. Dry weather will stick around for most of the week with another upper level system returning for the later half of next weekend.

Beaumont store clerk fires at robbers

BEAUMONT - By Justin Hinton, KFDM News

Surveillance video in a Beaumont laundromat captured two armed men robbing the owner while a store clerk next door fired several shots at them.

One of the men knocked on the door, then burst into Mary Trans office and held her at gunpoint once she opened the door.

He asked me where the money and I tell him in there too, but he dont see it, Tran said.

The robber already took $600 from her pocket. The other man entered the office and began knocking over equipment.

In the surveillance video, the men both look up and try to run outside. Thats when Vu Do, the store clerk next door, runs into the laundromat and begins firing several shots.

Do says he saw the attack on video surveillance from the adjacent grocery store also owned by Tran. He says he grabbed his gun and ran next door.

Customers can be seen leaving the laundromat when Do runs toward the laundromat office.

Do said he fired two or three shots, chasing one man outside while the other hid in a back office.

I was up on the second shot, said laundromat mechanic David Burke. I come running in here and the woman [Tran] was on the floor in front of me. I came in and I was worried if she was alive or not.

Tran can then be seen going into a back room of the office with another worker. They both run out when the second robber comes out from underneath a row of slot machines.

He come out through the door, but I didnt know if it was a suspect for sure or not, said Burke.

The two grapple with one another and Tran eventually tells Burke to let go of him.

Tran said her faith helped her get through the day.

It was nothing to me, because I know that God save me because Im strong to God, Tran said.
