Study discusses graduation rates for BISD students in college
Taxpayers in the Beaumont school district asked a researcher to study BISD.
George Scott is a public policy consultant and he talked about some of his findings during a news conference today at the Jefferson County Courthouse.
Scott says his findings show a large number of BISD graduates who go to college end up dropping out.
Scott also talked about state testing of students and he says standardized tests are hurting students, especially minorities. He claims the way the tests are graded makes it too easy for students to pass.
If you would like to hear his findings and voice any questions the presentation will be held in the Jefferson County Courthouse Tuesday, September 17th at 7 p.m. in the jury impaneling room. It is open to the public.
