Woman says Facebook acquaintance kidnapped, sexually assaulted her

PORT ARTHUR - Port Arthur Police are investigating a woman's report a Facebook acquaintance kidnapped her, drove her to the Lake Jackson area, and sexually assaulted her.

The 19-year-old woman says a 34-year-old man with whom she became acquainted on Facebook showed up at her home on 6th Street at about 9 p.m. Wednesday and asked her to come outside and talk. She says he persuaded her to get into his car and drove her to the Lake Jackson area. She says he sexually assaulted her along the way.

PAPD began searching for the woman and working with officers in Lake Jackson and Brazoria County. They identified a suspect in Lake Jackson and searched an empty apartment for him. Police believe the suspect learned officers were looking for him and the victim.

They say the man drove the woman to the Medical Center area in Houston and the woman walked in to Texas Children's Hospital at about 3 p.m. Thursday where she made contact with a Houston Police officer in the reception area and reported what she called an attack. PAPD says she suffered minor injuries.

Detectives with Lake Jackson PD interviewed the woman and late Thursday evening she was reunited with her family.

The suspect is cooperating with investigators. Police haven't arrested the man but the investigation remains open.
