Deputies: Purse stolen from unlocked vehicle
BEAUMONT - By Justin Hinton, KFDM News
A Southeast Texas woman is hoping people wont leave their cars unlocked to run errands like she did 5 months ago.
Farren Morris says she was gone 20 minutes, but when she returned her car door was ajar and her purse was gone.
I was looking, attempting to find my phone and I couldn't find my phone, so I'm like well, maybe it's in my purse. I'm looking and I'm like where is my purse?
Investigators traced purchases with Morris credit cards at Target and Cowboy Truck Stop.
We have photos of the individual that used the credit card and we're trying to identify, said Deputy Rod Carroll.
Both the Beaumont Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriffs Office are investigating since the charges took place in both the city and county limits.
[She] took from my child. [She] took from me. And that hurts. So, like I said, if somebody can help me, that would be a good thing. They'll be blessed for it, said Morris.
For now, shes hoping that others will check twice before leaving their vehicle unattended without locking the door.
You have to double check and make sure that your car is locked, even if you have to tug on it, she said. Pull on the door handle, and that's something I didn't do. I just proceeded on with what I was doing and my mistake.
