Students benefit from Saturday School at Fletcher Elementary

BEAUMONT - When you  hear Saturday school, you might think of a place where students go for discipline.

But a Beaumont school is turning the day into a tutoring session instead.

Staff members at Fletcher Elementary School spend part of their Saturdays teaching.

Dozens of local students are showing up for help, and the numbers are increasing.

Last week 40 students showed up to the classroom at the Beaumont school, and today there were 70.

The school's principal says Saturday School is perfect for students who may not grasp concepts during regular classroom settings.

The tutoring sessions are two hours long.
