Police working to determine circumstances of fatal accident on College
Beaumont police are using witness statements and measurements taken at the scene to piece together the circumstances of a car accident that killed a 44-year-old teacher. Erin Ilari died in the collision Monday afternoon. She was a teacher at Bingman Head Start in Beaumont.
According to police, Ilari was driving her Chevrolet Malibu south on Todd Street shortly after five in the afternoon Monday.
Police say she pulled onto College Street and a 25 year old man driving a Honda Civic struck Ilari's car at the intersection.
The teacher's two children and a friend of one child were in the car. Doctors treated them for non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Honda was also taken to a hospital. Police say he, too, received non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators say this was the 8th traffic fatality of the year in Beaumont.
